The Finnish mezzo-soprano Tuija Knihtilä studied singing at the Sibelius-Academy in Helsinki, at Hochschule der Künste in Berlin and at the International Opera Studio of the Zurich Opera. Initially member of the soloist ensemble of the Finnish National Opera, her international career is evolving today on major opera and concert stages across Europe as well as overseas. Her 2010 debuts as Venus in Tannhäuser in Oslo and as Amneris in Aida in Helsinki consolidated the dramatic character of her repertory. The multifaceted colours from Mahler to Mascagni, from Sibelius to Strauss, from Verdi to Wagner are the inspiring cornerstones of her artistry.
